Shoreline of Castell de Ferro beach, with turquoise, crystal-clear water over sand and small pebbles

The beach, at the end of the path

Walk out of the campsite gate and you're on Castell de Ferro beach: sand and small pebbles, clean, crystal-clear water. The promenade, the bar terraces and the old town are a five-minute walk away.

The beach at the gate

Castell de Ferro's shoreline is sand and small pebbles, ideal for swimming and with the clean, transparent water that kind of seabed gives you. El Sotillo, the campsite's beach, flies the Blue Flag; the promenade and the beach bars are a step away.

It's a village beach: families, locals, the odd boat pulled up on the shore and an easy pace even in August. In winter, at 18 degrees in the sun, it's the place for the afternoon stroll.

Coves, diving and snorkelling

The rich seabeds of the Costa Tropical make for great diving. La Rijana cove, a 10-minute drive away, is the must for snorkelling; Calahonda and the coves around Castell de Ferro complete the route. There are dive centres in the area.

The village, 500 metres away

Supermarkets, pharmacy, health centre, banks, petrol station and shops, all a step away. And to eat: tapas, fresh fish and the tropical fruit grown on the plain here (custard apple, avocado, mango) on the promenade terraces.
